South Pacific
A large part of the remote, blue wilderness of the South Pacific is a marine desert. Many animals that live in the ocean, among them sharks, whales and turtles, must go to extraordinary lengths to survive. Tiger sharks travel hundreds of miles to feast on fledging albatross chicks and, every year, sperm whales journey from one side of the South Pacific to the other in their search of food and mates.
 04/12/2020  13:00-14:00  (60)
Earth's Natural Wonders
In the high Himalaya, join yak-herder Thokmay Lowa and his small group as he steers his herd through one of the region's extreme mountain passes. In the Canadian Arctic, 63-year-old Minnie Nappaaluk and her granddaughter Eva embark on one of the most hazardous expeditions for food: the mussel harvest. In the blistering Australian outback, the only way to efficiently round up cattle herds on vast farms is through the use of helicopter cowboys like Chris Weyand.

Frozen Planet
Polar landscapes in autumn are transformed as the big freeze returns. Most animals leave on epic journeys, some now battle to breed, and for the hardy few it's a time of opportunity. In the Arctic, polar bears gather in large numbers on the coast to wait for the return of the ice. Tempers soon fray and violent contests break out. Off the coast 2,000 beluga whales head for a special estuary, a gigantic "whale spa".
